| Text Description: | Stratigraphic Unit No. 3b. Interpreted deposit type: tephra fall. Thickness: 2 cm (62 cm cumulative; unit broken into four subunits based on bedding characteristics). Grain size: fine lapilli to coarse ash. Bedding: massive (entire unit consists of alternating massive and normally graded subunits). Sorting: well-sorted . Juvenile clast type: tan (rare-pumice-like clasts, yet still poorly vesiculated) and black (dense, scoria-like clasts). Remarks: representative sample. Munsell color-wet: 10Y 4/4. Munsell color-dry: 5Y 6/4. Grain shape: angular. Age: 840+/-60 yr. B.P. >1953. |
