| Text Description: | Sub-sample of 1 m thick layer of volcanic air-fall tephra. All samples between 243 and 155 cm yielded a similar basltic-tachybasaltic to basaltic andesitic glass composition pointing to a single eruption source for the entire layer. However, differences in particle size indicated different eruption phases of unknown duration. Sharp edges and pronounced vesicles of glass shards indicate a low stage of alteration or only very limited redeposition processes. |
