Text Description: From a flow, apparently derived from Anvil Peak, that predates the eruption of the dacitic tuff, according to Powers. This is a medium-brownish-gray (5YR 5/1) porphyritic, slightly vesicular basaltic andesite. The phenocrysts (3 mm in size) include bytownite (An82), olivine (Fa15), and sparse augite that is green in hand specimen. The groundmass is an hyalopilitic web of plagioclase microlites, augite, and magnetite.
