Text Description: | Stratigraphic Unit No. PIT 3, unit d. Interpreted deposit type: multiple tephra fall, paleosol complex. Thickness: 39 cm (multiple 0.5 to 2 cm tephra lenses). Grain size: coarse to medium ash lenses, and fine lapilli lenses. Bedding: lenses both continuous and discontinuous. Sorting: well sorted. Juvenile clast type: black (dense, scoria-like clasts) and tan (pumice-like clasts, yet still poorly vesiculated). Remarks: discontinuous lens. Munsell color-wet: 5YR 3/2. Munsell color-dry: 5YR 6/2. Grain shape: angular-subround. Age: >3650+/-150 yr. B.P. |
