Text Description: Three-cm-thick tephra layer that is 19 cm from the base of the 1912 Novarupta fallout layer. Pl>opx>>cpx; opx:cpx = 6:1. Median diameter is 0.07 mm and maximum pumice length is 4 mm. Unit rests on a dark brown organic-rich fine soil. Sharply defined 3.5-cm-thick couplet of two sublayers, possibly reflecting two pulses of a single eruption.
