Text Description: Interstratified with sands and silts in the upper part of the White Channel gravels. In places, this tephra bed drapes into ice-wedge casts or is cut by them. The composition reported here is the average of two samples: UT1001, UT1053. Type II beds have more crystals than type I beds, and the glass is mainly in the form of highly inflated pumice. Feldspar, orthopyroxene, and green amphibole are common with minor or trace amounts of red amphibole, clinopyroxene, iron-titanium oxides, apatite, and zircon.
