Text Description: Maximum thickness of 8 cm. Tephra layer is located 5.4 m above the top of the imbricated gravels. Additional unsampled tephra beds occurred at 5.8 m and 6.5 m above the imbricated gravels. From Preece et al. (2011): pumice; in 4.1 m of stony silt, sand, and gravel with peaty horizons overlying 1.2 m peat and tree stems. Underlying the peat is 2 m of laminated, brown, organic, clay-rich silt, which is underlain by 2 m of sand and imbricated gravel. Tephra is located 5.4 m above the top of the imbricated gravel; field name MBFT-1.
