Average calculated from analyses of four individual samples from two different locations (see individual samples for description): 96AP19I1/I2 and 96AP20F/E1. The horizon exhibits two distinct components that were collected as separate samples in the field. The lower component at each location is dacitic (~64 wt% SiO2) andthe upper is andesitic (~57 wt% SiO2). Individual particles typically ~0.5 mm in diameter; the unit grades upward from tan to black. |
