| Text Description: | Maximum thickness of 2 cm; consists of thin, bubble-wall shards. Orthopyroxene, plagioclase, magnetite, and ilmenite are relatively abundant in the small crystal component, which also contains minor amounts of clinopyroxene, apatite, and zircon. From Preece et al. (2000): Tephra bed located about 1 m below the top of muck in valley bottom setting. From Preece et al. (2011): 2 cm thick; bubble-wall shards, trace amounts of brown glass; in muck; ~1 m below the top of unit; field name MWM2 |
