Orthopyroxene, plagioclase, magnetite, and ilmenite are relatively abundant in the small crystal component, which also contains minor amounts of clinopyroxene, apatite, and zircon. From Preece et al. (2000): Sample is not in situ, but in spoil from excavation of a 5 m deep water pit. There are thin, micaceous, silty layers throughout the tephra sample. |
