Revised Alaska Interagency Operating Plan for Volcanic Ash Episodes

The 2014 edition of the Alaska Interagency Operating Plan for Volcanic Ash Episodes is now available here.

This plan provides an overview of how State and Federal agencies work together to respond to volcanic-ash producing eruptions in Alaska. It describes roles and responsibilities of each agency and provides supporting information on volcanoes of Alaska and Russia. While the focus of the document is on ash and aviation hazards response, aspects of ash fall impacts on water and air quality are also addressed.

The 2014 edition is the 7th iteration of the plan which was first developed following the 1992 eruption of Mount Spurr.
