Cleveland webcam available

AVO's web camera aimed at Cleveland volcano is now available on our public web page. This camera was installed in June of 2007 in the village of Nikolski on the western end of Umnak Island, about 45 miles from this active volcano. Frequent cloudy and foggy conditions in the Aleutian Islands will likely prevent many clear views of the volcano. Presently, Cleveland is erupting at a low-level, sending intermittent, small ash clouds above the volcano. AVO has no seismic network on this volcano, and we rely on frequent analysis of satellite imagery, this web camera, and observations of pilots and mariners to track activity.
