AVO Image

A view to the south from Carlisle volcano across ominous, windy, turbulent Carlisle Pass, a challenging body of water separating Carlisle and Cleveland volcanoes. The grass-covered northwest coastline of Cleveland is in the sun and the slope of little-known Herbert volcano is in the distance peeking out from the clouds. Photo taken during the 2014 field season of the Islands of Four Mountains multidisciplinary project, work funded by the National Science Foundation, the USGS/AVO, and the Keck Geology Consortium.
