Veniaminof volcano in eruption, August 18, 2013. Ash billows from the intracaldera cinder cone as molten lava streams from two separate vents high on the east flank of the cone. The level of the highest lava source likely marks the level of a lava lake within the active crater. Photo taken by Game McGimsey, AVO/USGS. This overflight of Veniaminof was co-sponsored by the National Geographic Society.
