A helicopter sits on the shore of the western caldera lake at the base of the western caldera wall, just west of Turquoise Cone. Lava flows exposed in the cliff wall are the remnants of a pre-caldera stratocone destroyed in during the caldera-forming eruption 9,400 years ago.
