Animated GIF (download "full res" image to view) of GOES-18 satellite views of Shishaldin's eruptive plume, 10:20 pm July 22, 2023 through 1:10 am July 23, 2023, AKDT (note image labels are in UTC). In the animation, you can see the ash as a pink-, blue-, and brown-colored plume carried northeast from Shishaldin (center left in view). The outline of Unimak Island and the surrounding area is superimposed on the images in white.
