Backscatter electron polished mount image of an Edgecumbe basalt scoria clast (sample 81ARJ073A). This image is of an the 'orange' component of this tephra sample. The glass has been entirely altered leaving a porous matrix of crystals and no original glass. Image acquired on an JEOL 6510LV SEM at 20 kV, 12 mm working distance, spot size of 65, and in BEC imaging mode.
