Backscatter electron polished mount image of an Edgecumbe basalt scoria clast (sample 81ARJ073A). Image shows a typical crystalline and vesicular (black areas) groundmass. Light gray crystals are olivine and dark gray crystals are plagioclase. Image acquired on an JEOL 6510LV SEM at 20 kV, 12 mm working distance, spot size of 65, and in BEC imaging mode.
