Backscatter electron polished mount image of an Edgecumbe dacite pumice (sample 81ARJ75A). Three small minerals (white = ilmenite, very light gray = apatite, medium gray = pyroxene) are visible in a glassy and highly vesicular matrix. Image acquired on an JEOL 6510LV SEM at 20 kV, 12 mm working distance, spot size of 65, and in BEC imaging mode.
