Animation of a sequence of high-resolution satellite radar images of the growth of the lava dome at the summit of Great Sitkin. The animation runs for one month from July 14-August 16, 2021, from just before the lava dome began erupting, to when it fills the central crater and starts spilling over the sides of the 1974 lava dome. Imagery is from TerraSAR-X/TanDEM-X courtesy of Simon Plank (German Aerospace Center).
