
Backscatter Electron Image (BSE) of tephra erupted from Shishaldin Volcano on January 19, 2020. Sample collected in False Pass, AK by Melanie Hoblet. The left grain in almost entirely crystallized while the left grain has rounded vesicles (bubbles), sparse plagioclase microlites (dark gray angular shapes), and a clean glass matrix. The right grains make up roughly 75% of the overall sample. Image taken with a JEOL 6510LV Scanning Electron Microscope.
