Janet Schaefer (AVO/DGGS) and Jim Vallance (USGS) examine tephra deposits from Makushin in a peat-rich outcrop. This outcrop is located in a cirque, high above Driftwood Valley. Janet used a folding extension ladder to obtain good descriptions and samples.
