Nestled within a summit depression of 2,165-m ( 7,103 ft)-high Mount Mageik volcano is an acidic, hot (70C [158F]) crater lake. Persistent, vigorous fumaroles are present. No historical eruptions from Mount Mageik have been confirmed. Photograph by C. Neal, U.S. Geological Survey, June 4, 1990.
