Novarupta Dome with Falling Mountain in the background, Katmai National Park and Preserve. The rubbly rhyolitic dome, 380 m in diameter, was the last product of the great eruption of 1912, forming in the weeks to months after the explosive eruptions of June 6-9. Falling Mountain was bisected by the eruption and marks the southwest edge of the vent.
