New seismic and GNSS stations installed in a small network around Mt Edgecumbe volcano in late August 2023. UAF-GI associate professor Ronni Grapenthin digs a hole for a seismometer at the new monitoring site EDNW. Dark organic soils, typical of the muskeg areas on Kruzof Island, overlie older volcanic tephra deposits from past eruptions of Mt Edgecumbe.
