Snow-free ground at the summit of Takawangha volcano (this is on the south edge of crater #5 from the Coombs et al., 2003 report).  This area may be scoured clear of snow compared to its surroundings, or there may be some other factor such as dirt blowing onto the snow or elevated ground heat flux that causes the snow to melt more quickly than elsewhere.
