Today, November 6, 2014, is the 43rd anniversary of the Cannikin nuclear test on Amchitka Island in the western Aleutians. AVO, with assistance from the Department of Energy, maintains an important data digitizing and transmission hub on Amichitka Island; this equipment is essential for operation of our Little Sitkin and Semisopochnoi seismic networks.
