| Location description: | Akutan volcano, Open Bight lake. Percussion Cores, taken with Billy d’Andrea. All between 25-50 cm in length in 1.5-2 m of water. Lowermost unit in all cores is coarse scoria lapilli. CO-3 sampled for ICP-MS and Dating. Unclear if the dark events are ash or stream-derived. 137Cs dating revealed top 14 cm is younger than 1950. Possible 1962 ash layer at 8-9 cm. |
