Large construction excavation on the Palmer-Wasilla Road, approximately 0.15 km west of the interserction with Hemmer Road in Palmer, Alaska. Exposure that is approximately 1.5 m tall and consists of Holocene-age loess mantling ice-contact stratified drift. The exposure extends laterally for over 50 m, with loess thickness remaining constant. Six tephra recorded in the stratigraphy, one of which was a couplet, and all of which were sampled. See Fontana (1988) for detailed stratigraphy. Coordinates provided as degrees/minutes and converted to decimal degrees; datum not provided, assumed to be NAD83. |
