Text Description: From Feeley and Winer (1999): "Kaminista ('Place of Stones') is a northeast trending ridge of blocky lava 10 to 15 m high and slightly over a kilometer in length. The origin of Kaminista is uncertain but may be related to repeated eruption of lava through a NE-striking fissure associated with a fault (Barth, 1956; Cox and others, 1966). A quarry located near the southwest end of Kaminista exposes a cross-section of basalt flows forming the ridge. At least three flows with dense interior regions and vesiculated, ropy tops are present here. Sample KAM1 was collected from the lowest flow on the quarry floor.
