Text Description: | From Feeley and Winer (1999): "The Fox Hill lava flow extends from Fox Hill, a cluster of small breached scoria cones near the west end of St. Paul Island, to Southwest Point. The Fox Hill flow surface is studded with numerous small (<4 m in height), crudely stratified spatter and cinder mounds formed as a result of syn-eruptive collapse and rafting away of remnants of the Fox Hill cone crater walls. Sample FXH1 was collected from the surface of the Fox Hill flow. The Fox Hill flow and the upper dense units sampled at Southwest Point may be part of single compound flow sequence because, although they are petrographically distinct, geochemically they are similar." |
