Text Description: Sample in thin section is 30-35% plagioclase, to 3 mm; 10% subequal amounts of clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene, to 2 mm; 1-2% oxides, to 0.4 mm; no olivine, sieved plagioclase common, oxide-pyroxene-plagioclase aggregates present. Sample is from SW Snowy volcano. Top lava flow on SW Summit, Peak 6770. Sample has a whole-rock K-Ar calculated age of 196 +/- 8 ka (Hildreth and others, 2001).
