Text Description: Blocky, rubbly outcrop from Dome A at Site 2. Fine grained, vesicular, holocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of equigranular feldspar, quartz?, opaque and zircon. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An24) are up to 1.5 mm and some have polysynthetic twinning, but untwinned feldspar also is present. Symplectic intergrowths of feldspar and quartz are up to 0.15 mm. There is an altered grain, amphibole?, consisting of an opaque aggregate with a small core. 91.7% matrix, 2.6% plagioclase, 5.7% vesicles.
