Text Description: A silicic block from a baked portion of the carapace of dome C unit at Site 7. Fine grained, hypocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of colorless glass, plagioclase, opaque, orthopyroxene and apatite?. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An51) are up to 2.0 mm and most are strongly zoned. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.2 mm. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.68 mm and are intensely pleochroic; some have opaque inclusions.
