Text Description: A silicic block from a baked portion of the dome C carapace unit at Site 7. Fine grained, holocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of plagioclase, opaque, apatite?, orthopyroxene and alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts are up to 1.8 mm and often are strongly zoned (both normal and oscillatory). Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.75 mm; many grains have a brown coating (oxidation?) and are intensely pleochroic. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.3 mm.
