Text Description: Grab sample from platy rubble of a dome at the south end of Jaeger Mesa. Fine grained, holocrystalline, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of cryptocrystalline material, opaque, orthopyroxene and plagioclase. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An31 - An53) are up to 0.8 mm and tend to have strong normal zoning and occasional oscillatory zoning; the grains tend to include microlites. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.1 mm. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.25 mm. An opaque aggregate may represent an altered phase.
