Text Description: Approximately 15’ thick flow that is only locally massive at the base of unit nA1 at Site 5. Fine-grained, vesicular, diktytaxitic, holocrystalline, locally intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene and yellow alteration. There is a fine granular patch of clinopyroxene partially enclosed in plagioclase (reaction?). Plagioclase phenocrysts (An31 - An53) are up to 2.2 mm and some have sieve textured zones (core, intermediate or rim) and complex zonation. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.1 mm and some have clinopyroxene rims and/or sieve textured zones. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.1 mm and needle-like.
