Text Description: Blocky andesite flow. Outcrop is spire-like with 1 -2’ diameter blocks in a finer matrix of ash or altered andesite at Site 15. Fine grained, vesicular, holocrystalline, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque and plagioclase. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An39 - An60) are up to 3.55 mm and commonly have sieve textured zones, oscillatory zoning, and resorption embayments. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.2 mm. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 2.62 mm. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.4 mm. Trachyandesite.
