Text Description: Scoria from Site 6. Fine-grained, vesicular, intersertal, hypocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix is very dark glass. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An39 - An61) have two populations: 3.05-0.4 mm, with sieve textured zones; and 1.6-0.05 mm with complex zoning and lacking sieve textured zones. Olivine phenocrysts are 1.05-0.1 mm and some have skeletal habits or opaque inclusions. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.8 and twinning is common. 61.5% matrix, 4.9% plagioclase, 0.4% olivine, 0.7% clinopyroxene, 32.5% vesicles.
