Text Description: Platy to rubbly outcrop on the top of Site 5. Fine grained, holocrystalline, seriate to glomeroporphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase, clinopyroxene and minor alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An45 - An58) are up to 4.4 mm and commonly have sieve textured zones, oscillatory zoning, rounding or resorption embayments on rims and overgrowth rims. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.8 mm and may have clinopyroxene rims and opaque inclusions. Olivine phenocrysts are up to 2.5 mm. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 4.4 mm. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.2 mm.
