Flow on the east side of the knife edge between Sites 3 and 4 . Fine-grained, holocrystalline, weakly intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase and green alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An28 - An56) are up to 1.3 mm and some have sieve textured cores or intermediate zones; often have rounded, resorbed rims, or tooth-like overgrowth rims; complex zoning is common, occasionally there is convolute zoning. Disequilibrium features are less common in plagioclase phenocrysts less than 0.2 mm. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.0 mm, some have clinopyroxene rims and a few have opaque inclusions. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.5 mm. |
