Text Description: Approximately 40’ of agglutinated material at Site 8. 95SJP9A is part of a massive block. Fine grained, vesicular, holocrystalline, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase, orthopyroxene and alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An39 - An64) are up to 1.42 mm and frequently have normal zoning, and occasionally oscillatory zoning and/or sieve textured zones. Olivine phenocrysts are up to 1.0 mm with some alteration along rims. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.0 mm, but most are < 0.3 mm. One clinopyroxene phenocrysts, 0.5 mm, was observed.
