Text Description: Agglutinate from immediately overlying a lahar/pyroclastic flow at Site 5. The very base of the unit nA1. Fine-grained, vesicular, diktytaxitic, hypocrystalline, intersertal, intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, clinopyroxene?, orthopyroxene, brown glass and yellow alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An27 - An55, most An38 - An55) are up to 1.5 mm and frequently have sieve textured zones, many have rounded outlines, complex zoning, orthopyroxene inclusions, and include matrix material along the rim. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.85 mm and some have clinopyroxene rims and/or occasionally sieve textured zones.
