Text Description: A 15’ thick, plagioclase-phyric flow at Site 12. Fine grained, vesicular, hypocrystalline, intersertal, weakly intergranular, seriate to glomeroporphyritic with a matrix of brown glass, opaque, plagioclase, clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts ( An44 - An58) are up to 6.25 mm, many grains have sieve textured zones, display complex zoning, and some have clinopyroxene inclusions. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.4 mm and some have clinopyroxene rims. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.4 mm. Olivine phenocrysts are up to 0.65 mm and some have rims of small pyroxene crystals.
