Text Description: Approximately 15’ thick flow overlying scoria at Site 6. Fine-grained, hypocrystalline, intersertal, porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque and plagioclase. There are blocky shaped xenoliths, 0.75 mm and 0.9 mm in diameter, consisting of light brown glass, feldspar and microlites. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An42 - An58) have two populations, 0.65-0.1 mm that are sieve textured, zoned, and have overgrowth rims, and 0.25-0.05 mm, some with normal zoning. Olivine phenocrysts are 1.6-0.1 mm and a few have skeletal habits; a few have opaque inclusions. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.65 mm, but most are < 0.2 mm.
