Text Description: Block from brecciated material at Site 12. This unit is cut by a dike (94SJP11A). Fine grained, vesicular, hypocrystalline, intersertal, seriate to glomeroporphyritic with a matrix of brown glass, opaque, plagioclase, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene and minor calcite. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An30-An64) are up to 7.5 mm and frequently have sieve textured cores, normal zoning, and overgrowth rims; oscillatory zoning is less common. Olivine phenocrysts are up to 0.5 mm and some have a rim of small orthopyroxene crystals. Orthopyroxene is up to 0.6 mm and some have clinopyroxene rims.
