In outcrop it is wall-like and can be followed into the lower part of the andesite package overlying the silicic flows. Fine-grained, seriate, hypocrystalline with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, feldspar and clinopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An22-An44) are 1.75-0.05 mm, some have complex zoning, some have one or more sieve textured zones and/or large melt inclusions. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are 1.0-0.1 mm and some have clinopyroxene rims. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are 2.75-0.05 mm and twinning is common. Olivine? phenocrysts are present.
