Handpicked composite of medium gray-brown scoriaceous lapilli from one of several airfall deposits of lapilli and ash | (Riehle) WALL OF BORROW PIT. 8cm: org soil. 1-2cm: fine, light grey ash, grades down. | 4 cm: org soil. 10cm ash & fine lapilli; pale honey, weather light gy; SAMP A. | 50cm: "salt and pepper" pale yell w/ dark grey solid lava; internally strat; coarse sand & fine pebs; SAMP B. | 50cm crs sand to 5cm, angluar yell pumiceous lapilli. Alters or coats to dark red-bn. Breaks down to water-soaked, 'spongy' feel SAMP C. | 6cm yell-orange, f pebs grading up to grey-yell, crs sand. Pumice. SAMP D. | 25cm loose red pumiceous lapilli, rare vesic black lapilli, up 2cm. Grades up to coherent dull grey SAMP E. | 6cm: 'diamiction.' Dk gy matrix, underlying lapilli. Soil?
