Text Description: Lava sample from dense core of a Holocene lava flow of unknown origin. This sample contains conspicuous pyroxene phenocrysts up to 5mm in length, with subordinate plagioclase phenocrysts. The lava flow is dark grey with a distinct rosecolored tint and appears older, as it is covered with lichen and moss. The location creates ambiguity in the source of this lava flow. It could be from Pavlof or Pavlof Sister.
