Text Description: Porphyritic lava flow immediately below 88VS25. South-southeast flank of Vsevidof. Exceptionally coarse porphyritic basaltic andesite. Phenocrysts of plagioclase (20%, up to 1.7 x 0.6 mm, few of which have spongy zones) and subequal amounts of clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene (5% each, up to 0.6 mm diameter) with sparse microphenocrysts of olivine set in a groundmass of small crystals and dark microcrystalline material. This sample also contain polymineralic clots of pyroxene surrounding corroded olivine and wormy opaque oxides and occasional megacrysts of euhedral plagioclase up to a centimeter long and 2—3 mm wide. The megacrysts are zoned, but do not contain extensive spongy regions.
